9:00 AM: Philbrook Museum of Art

Get up bright and early to start your day strong with checking out the Philbrook Museum of Art! This historic-home-turned-musem once belonged to an oil pioneer, and is absolutely stunning. I highly recommend bringing a little picnic to enjoy in the gardens outside! They have picnic tables and lots of grassy space to sit.

The museum opens at 9:00 AM, and you can reserve your tickets online in advance. It wasn’t very busy when I went, but it was nice to have the timed entry tickets ready to go. Admission is $17 per adult, and $6 for children, and includes access to all museum exhibits and the gardens.

11:00 AM: Woodward Park and Gardens

Once you’ve finished checking everything out at the Philbrook Museum, I recommend walking 15 minutes north to the Woodward Park and Gardens. This is a really cute park with 45 acres of gardens, a conservatory, arboretum, and the Charles Faudree Memorial Pavilion.

Perfect for a relaxing late morning stroll, or to just enjoy the fresh air. There’s a walking path throughout the park, as well as a public restroom!

12:00 PM: Lunch

After the gardens, head into town for some refreshing lunch and local pastries. I recommend Chimera Cafe, which offers a lot of healthy options, including vegetarian options. I got the Firebird sandwich and it was very tasty!

Then, you can hop right across the street to Antoinette Bakery & Cafe for some pastries! Oh my gosh, this was delicious. I got their vegan item of the day, which was a chocolate orange scone; it was amazing. They also had a ton of pies, cakes, macarons, cookies and more.

2:00 PM: Museum Options

There are a few afternoon museum options, depending on what you’re most interested in! If you have multiple days here, or are feeling ambitious, I definitely would check out as many as you can.

Woody Guthrie Center: This is a nice museum that pays tribute to the late American folk music artist. You’ll get to know everything about his life, the staff are super knowledgeable, and there’s even an immersive virtual reality experience.

Bob Dylan Center: This is another interactive experience that will give you the full behind-the-scenes look at Bob Dylan’s life. There’s an audio tour included with your admission, and a ton of artifacts and memorabilia.

Greenwood Rising Black Wall St. History Center: This is the museum I opted to visit, and it was incredible; definitely a must. It tells you the full history of Tulsa, including Greenwood as it thrived with Black Wall St., and the Tulsa Race Massacre’s lasting impacts, and more. The staff were incredibly knowledgeable and provided so much additional information that really enhanced my experience.

You really can’t go wrong with whichever museum you choose!

5:00 PM: Sunset at Soma Tulsa

Once you’re all done at the museum(s), I highly recommend watching the sunset at Soma Tulsa! They have a stunning rooftop patio and restaurant; the patio offers drinks exclusively, or you can eat dinner at the restaurant indoors.

I advise making a reservation in advance; I went on a Wednesday, and it was packed! You don’t need a reservation for the patio though; you can just order drinks and sit wherever. The views are stunning and the food is delicious!

6:30 PM: Dinner

If you are looking for other dinner spots, check out these options:
 – Juniper Restaurant
 – Lowood
– Boston Title & Abstract
– The Hemingway

These were all recommended to me by trusted friends. And honestly, the food was so good everywhere I ate, that I feel like you really can’t go wrong. Lowood unfortunately had suffered from a fire right before I got there, so will be even more important to support once it reopens!
